Everyone has their own definition of freedom. But what is freedom? Sometimes it may be chasing your dreams. Sometimes its speaking your heart out. Sometimes it is travelling. Sometimes its simply spending time with loved ones, and the interpretation can go on and on. This song comes at such a point in the movie when Bunny aka Kabir Thapar (Ranbir Kapoor) moves on to a new phase of life and starts his career as a journalist. He is a free spirit and has always dreamt of travelling and exploring every corner of the world. To him, freedom means flying, running and falling, but he doesn’t want to stop. He just wants to run towards his dreams ans aspirations and never stop exploring.
Years later, we see him as a journalist living his life in different parts of the world. This song plays right after the intermission, against the mesmerising backdrop of Paris. The song gives out the chilled out and free spirited vibe of Paris which fits perfectly with Bunny’s personality.
“Mera falsafaa kandhe pe mera basta, chala main jahaan le chala mujhe rasta”. Nothing can describe Bunny more precisely than these lines. These lines exactly convey the kind of lust Bunny has for travelling. He is ready to be a nomad for life and live a small part of his life in any corner of the world. Every time you hear this song, it will take you to a different world of introspection and finding yourself. This song definitely makes you want to pack your bags and live a dream-like life and travel the world.
