Anjaana Anjaani was released in the year 2010. It was a Romantic comedy drama film directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Sajid Nadiawala. Star cast included Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. Music of the movie was by Vishal-Shekhar. The movie was a moderate box-office success. Vishal-Shekhar were nominated for the Filmfare award for best music director for the film sound track. The two stars Priyanka Chopra (Kiara) and Ranbir Kapoor (Akash) are the suicidal strangers who meet while they plan to suicide in twenty days on New Year’s Eve.
Akash lives in New York City. He has bankrupted his company and is in need of $ 12 million for paying the shareholders. As he is unable to do the same he decided to jump of the George Washington Bridge. He meets Kiara from San Francisco. She is been cheated by her fiancé Kunal (Zayed Khan) both are depressed and they attempt to kill themselves. But they both are prevented from committing suicide by a guard. Akash still wants to kill himself and hits himself in a moving car and Kiara falls on the bridge and breaks her neck. Their Suicide attempts are unsuccessful and in fact they end up in a hospital together.
In this process they become friends. When they are discharged Kiara takes Akash to her apartment and his house has been seized by the bank. They both try to commit suicide for five times but every time they failed to do so. Frustrated with this they both decide to end their lives on 31st December 2009. Now only twenty days were left so they decide to fulfill their unrealised wishes. Kiara helps Akash find his date and Akash helps to clean up Kiara’s apartment. Akash doesn’t know how to fulfill Kiara’s wish of swimming in the cold Atlantic Ocean. Kiara falls overboard at the sea and is rescued by Akash .Their Yacht drifts away, stranding them by a coast guard rescuse them. Kiara is depressed and tries to kill herself by drinking bleach and rushed to the hospital. When she is discharged Akash realises his love for her and tries everything to make her happy. Both of them go to Las Vegas for a holiday and there they both end up together.
Kiara tells Akash that she still loves Kunal so Akash insist Kiara to shift with her parents and give another chance to Kunal . He himself moves with his friend and plans to return to India on 31 st December to start refresh.
Akash settles the bank problem and Kiara cannot stop thinking about Akash .On 31 st December she realises that she finally loves Akash .Kunal drops Kiara at the Airport. She reaches the bridge but find herself alone she thinks she will never meet Akash again. Just then he arrives. At the sea Akash proposed Kiara. They then get married and have a baby boy after two years.
Ranbir was at his best like in all the movies but Priyanka was not too good as in one scene she is shown depressed and immediately next scene she is shown partying . The transition from depressed to partying is very sudden. The movie becomes exhausting at some points. So I give it a 7/10 rating. Priyanka’s acting was disappointing.
