Jawaani Jaaneman review: Alaya F makes a great debut

Saif Ali Khan is back to doing what he does best that is playing an unconventional role in his upcoming romantic-comedy film ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’ directed by Nitin Kakkar. Alaya Furniturewalla the debutante, plays the character of Saif Ali Khan’s daughter.

The trailer shows that how a single 40-year-old man, Jazz (Saif Ali Khan) meets his 21-year-old daughter, Tia (Alaya F) for the first time who comes all the way from Amsterdam just to find her father who is in London. Later everyone gets to know that Alaya is pregnant and Saif Ali Khan becomes a grandfather in no time.

The character of the mother is played by Tabu which has been done very nicely. She plays the role of a hippie. The idea that we get by watching the trailer is how the single father who is always partying is not ready to take care of his daughter’s baby and how the father daughter relationship evolves with time and the love for his daughter and her unborn child increases.

The first half of the movie is full of laughter however the second part gets emotional as the story becomes a little heavy due to the situations that take place. Places in London have been beautifully shot which makes the audience travel to London. All the songs also have been composed nicely.

Saif will draw you into the movie, Alaya will keep you glued even when the pace of the film seems to get slow and Tabu will make you laugh till the end of the movie.

Love Aajkal 2 review: 1990’s love VS 2020’s

Love Aaj Kal 2  directed by Imtiaz Ali is a 2020 romantic-drama film starring Sara Ali Khan as Zoe and Kartik Aaryan as Veer and Raghu. Leena (Aarushi Sharma) also plays a huge part as she plays a character in the 1990s. This movie follows the same concept as its first sequel i.e. Love Aaj Kal. It follows the same timeline (1990 and 2020).

As we can see in the trailer that career is important for Zoe and also wants to have fun with no strings attached, she feels scared that she won’t be able to balance her work with her other commitments in her life. In the 90’s, the love between the two is very old school. We can see how they both met very secretly. This all leaves the audience in suspense as to what will happen in the end.

Overall it perfectly describes how dynamics of relationships have changed since the past and how they adjust in the society today. The two things that the audience is looking forward to are Sara and Kaartik’s chemistry on screen and the new debutant Aarushi Sharma.

The films soundtrack is amazing. We can see how the two songs ‘Haan Main Galat’ and ‘Yeh Dooriyan’, have been beautifully recreated. Haan Main Galat has also set a trend of its hook step #doitwithatwist.

So Love Aaj Kal releases on Febuary 14th 2020, on Valentine’s Day just in time for all the couples to watch something good.

Malang review: A movie which teaches you to let loose

The tiny state of Goa has been a great destination for our filmmakers over the past years. ‘Malang’ directed by Mohit Suri is the story of love and revenge which was shot beautifully in Goa.

Source: http://www.bollywoodmascot.com

The film begins with an action scene and and this movie revolves around a dramatic event which happened in the lives of Advait (Aditya Roy Kapur) and Sara (Disha Patani), during which they cross paths with two police officers – Anjaney Agashe (Anil Kapoor) and Michael Rodrigues (Kunal Kemmu).

Advait, with a disturbing family history travels to goa to have some fun while Sara who is a free spirited, outgoing, girl from London, makes her first visit to India and she too travels to Goa in a quest to conquer and overcome all her fears. The moment they see each other in Goa at a party they are attracted to each other and later make a pact to live their lives to the fullest.

In the movie they can be seen trying out various adventurous sports which were beautifully shot in Mauritius like para gliding, wind surfing, ATV biking, sky diving which they enjoy to the fullest. By watching them do these sports this movie also inspires the audience to try these adventurous sports.

At first they decide to keep their relationship casual but as the story line progresses Advait realises his feelings for her and things begin to get serious between them. Sara was almost molested by Michael Rodrigues. Due to misunderstandings and Michael’s false allegation, Advait was arrested. Five years later after being released from jail he goes on a killing spree on Christmas night.

Advait informs Agashe that he is about to commit a murder but at first Agashe takes him very lightly but in no time a cop named Victor (Vatsal Sheth) has been murdered. Later that night two more cops- Nitin Salgaonkar (Keith Sequeira) and Deven Jadhav (Prasad Jawade) have been killed which makes Agashe more furious. All three cops worked under Michael Rodrigues and were very close to him.

Both Agashe and Michael work together to solve these serious of murder and trace Advaits trails before anyone else is murdered. Later in the movie it is seen that Michael follows Jessie (Elli AvrRam) who is a drug dealer and believes that she is also connected with the case. The title track ‘Malang’ is super hit song followed by ‘Hui malang’ and ‘Humraah’. All the songs have been nicely composed and shot. Director Mohit Suri has done a great job. Many filmmakers go the psychedelic way while showing the effects of drugs in their movie but Mohit Suri does not take that route and shows the effects of drugs in more presentable manner. Overall the movie was good, filled with a ray of emotions.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani review: Exactly the kind of rom-com that would make you want to live your life to the fullest

Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani has the charm of all the good romantic comedy films to have ever existed in Bollywood.

The story revolves around Ranbir Kapoor (Kabir Thapar aka Bunny), Deepika Padukone (Naina), Kalki Koechlin (Aditi) and Aditya Roy Kapur (Avi). These four start their journey of a lifelong friendship with a trekking trip to Manali. While Bunny, Aditi and Avi have always been close, Naina, their long lost schoolmate, is a last minute addition to the group. Bunny is a free-spirited and ambitious bachelor who wishes to travel and explore every city in this world. He’s always up gor impulsive adventures along with Aditi and Avi. But Naina, the “chashmish” is different, she is studying to be a doctor and believes in traditional family values.

source: http://www.amazon.com

As their trekking journey begins, we see a shy and studious Naina trying to fit into Bunny’s group full of adventurous social animals. Few minutes into the first half of the film, we see a brewing chemistry between Bunny and Naina. It’s the typical two opposite personalities getting attracted towards one another kind of story. By the end of the trekking trip, it is Naina who falls for Bunny but she along with Avi and Aditi learn his future plans to travel abroad to continue with his studies in journalism.

This impromptu trekking trip to Manali transformed Naina’s personality and she finally felt the happiness within when she   breaks her monotonous routine of studying day and night to explore a new part of the country. Travelling with a group of somewhat strangers made her happy about her existence and confident to face the world.

The story takes a 8-year leap and takes us to the cultural land of Udaipur. Once again all of them are to reunite for Aditi’s grand destination wedding in a luxurious resort in the heart of Udaipur. The portrayal of the big fat Indian wedding is very evident. With changed mindsets and priorities, they all try to bridge the gap in their friendship to keep the wedding-spirit alive. However, spending time with each other just set everything in place for them. And like every typical Bollywood movie, the hero and the heroine end up together giving the movie a happy ending.

The movie has a wide range of foot-tapping tracks with brilliant choreography ranging from peppy ones like Balam Pichkaari and Badtameez Dil to songs with beautiful lyrics that will calm your soul like Kabira and Subhanallah. The breathtaking views of Manali and the traditional cultures of Udaipur are a treat for the eyes. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has surely set a trend of trekking trips with friends as well as grand and lavish destination weddings.

Dil Chahta Hai Review: A story on true friendship

Dil chahta hai is an amazing entertainment movie, written and directed by Farhan Akhtar. A story of three friends, Akash (Amir Khan), Sameer (Saif Ali Khan) and Sidharth (Akshaye Khanna). A movie which is truly based on friendship.

The expectations for the movie is very high because of various reasons. One, the film is a multi-starrer movie. Second, the film marks the debut of Javed Akhtar’s son Farhan Akhtar. And thirdly the promotion of the film has generated a lot of hype.

Akash does not believe in love as he feels that love ruins a perfect healthy relationship. Sameer is a believer. He is wants love and loves to be in love. But he is yet to find his ‘Special one‘. Unfortunately he keeps on bumping in to wrong choices but still doesn’t leave hope. He believes he will find his love one day if he keeps searching. Sidharth is an understanding sensitive and mature person. Sid, as he known in the movie knows the true meaning of love. He feels in love every day. He has a great loves for his friends, for a stray dog, for the tree that is planted outside, love for his mother, love for his acquaintance.

DIL CHAHTA HAI is a film on these three different characters their relationships and the effect on their relationships on each other. The performance of all the three stars Amir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Khanna is outstanding and marvellous. The music of the movie is very refreshing. The movie has many light moments. It has amusing lines.

Now a critical analysis of the film. The film is made on modern lives. Its concept is more as a English film. Akshaye is in love with a women elder to him which would not be accepted by the Indian masses. Overall the movie is the best entertaining film I have ever seen. Full credit must be given to Farhan Akhtar who has broken the Bollywood Norms in order to make an enjoyable movie. Three cheers to him and his team. The movie is the best in modern day urban Mumbai and Sydney. It focuses on a major period of transition in the romantic lives of three friends. The movie was released in 2001 and it won National Filmfare award for best feature film in Hindi.

Amir Khan proves his supremacy. He is a brilliant actor. Wonderful performance by the actor. Though he had a difficult role where he did not believe in love but ultimately falls into love with Shalini (Preeti Zinta) whom he met in the flight.

Preeti Zinta looks very hep and shows a remarkable performance in a movie.

Saif Ali Khan performance was also very hilarious. He is not once overshadowed by the presence of two powerful actors. He has done justice to his role. This is one of his excellent performance till date.

Akshay Khanna speaks less in the movie but conveys a lot through his expressions. He is an actor par excellence. He had the most complex character yet he performs it with much ease.

This movie has made Goa very famous as a destination to visit. The Chapora Fort is the spot where the Dil chahta hai scenes where shot, some also call it as the Dil chahta hai Fort and it is now the attraction of Goa. The way the three friends had travelled to Goa and had enjoyed their life to the fullest was something very different which had set a trend for the youth to do the same.

Todd Philips movie The Hangover, is an action-comedy movie. This story revolves around three best friends, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stuart (Ed Helms), and Doug (Justin Bartha) plan a trip for Doug’s bachelor party to Las Vegas. Stu is a dentist by profession and is in a relationship with Melissa (Rachael Harris) who is a dominating, uncaring, unfaithful woman who was completely controlling Stu. Due to this Stu had to lie to his girlfriend that he was going to Napa Valley instead of Las Vegas.

We now flash back two days to their road trip to Vegas for a bachelor party. We can see that all four boys are set to go for their trip in Doug’s future father-in-law Sid’s vintage Mercedes -Benz W111. When they reach Vegas they  spend the night at Caesars Palace, where they relax in their hotel suite before celebrating with a few drinks on the hotel rooftop.

The next morning Phil, Stu, and Alan wake up and have no memory about last night. Doug is missing and is nowhere to be found. Their suite is in a state complete of mess.

When they are searching for Doug they get involved in a lot of incidents which includes a visit to a wedding chapel, a violent encounter with a very mean Chinese mobster Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong), a sweet hooker who turns out to be Stu’s wife, Jade (Heather Graham) who also has child named Tyler, an interview with an emergency room doctor and an encounter with Mike Tyson, whose tiger they have stolen.

On their way back home, the car is totally destroyed but their trip was astounding. Doug and Tracy are happily married, Phil is lucky to be back with his family safely and Stu breaks up with her girlfriend and is very happy.

Tamasha review: Imtiaz Ali yet again delivers a romantic masterpiece

Imtiaz Ali, yet again, delivers a love story that undergoes the complexities of life. Unlike every other love story, this one attempts at exploring life, love and yourself by breaking the shackles of the society

In the movie, Ved Vardhan Sahni (Ranbir Kapoor) is a normal, average man who follows a routine and a has a monotonous life whereas Tara Maheshwari (Deepika Padukone) is a sucker for adventures and loves to live life to its fullest. Never would have anyone imagined that two strangers accidentally meeting in a far away land of Corsica, would turn out to be true soulmates. Failing to stick to their pact of “what happens in Corsica, stays in Corsica”, they once again crossed ways after 4 long years after Tara staged their meet in such a way that it almost look coincidental.

Once again, the same love story was to blossom and they were to be the same mad, crazy lovers that they were. However, this time, they were in the real world and met each other with their real personalities. But Tara was in for a surpise because the Ved she met in Corsica was the complete opposite of the Ved she met in Delhi. She found Ved to be hiding his true fun loving personality behind a corporate face. The story builds up to Tara helping Ved find himself and doing what he is made for ie storytelling and dramatics.

Ved was creative person locked behind a 9-5 job. All he needed was a push to make him realise who he is really is and what he wants from life. Breaking away from his monotonous life, Ved attained enlightenment and an awakening that made him realise that instead of doing a corporate job, he wants to pursue theatre and start his new journey of life through drama and stroytelling. The movie ends on a beautiful note when Ved lies pays respect to Tara by lying on the ground, head bowed down and hands joined towards her. He wanted to thank her for changing his life completely and making him find himself and his happiness.

source: http://www.timesofindia.com

The movie wonderfully depicts his life journey in a way that it makes us question ourselves and what we want to do with our lives. Hard hitting songs like Agar Tum Saath Ho and Safarnama totally leave us thinking about life. The scenic beauty of Corsica makes us want to dive into the screen and want to explore the world. Overall the film is a great effort at making us realise that its okay to sometimes take a break from the monotony of life and set on a journey to find yourself.
